YAMA Newsletters -- August 2022

Welcome to our newsletter!

YAMA is introducing newsletters to share tips for family wellbeing, and upcoming offers and events. We know the importance of looking after physical, emotional and social wellbeing, so we invite you to take time to browse through and stay connected.

Families wait well over a year to be placed in a subsidised service for early intervention. Instead of simply waiting, or paying high prices for private services, Yoga Therapy can help your child develop strength, balance, coordination and self-regulation.

It’s why we established our Yoga Therapy Subsidy Scheme, a proven program to improve gross-motor planning and personal / social development in children with disabilities and special needs.

Why not try it out? You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain! Apply before Friday August 26th to be part of our September intake.

Caregivers look after everyone else, often forgetting about themselves. At YAMA we know how hard self-care can be. Here are some tips wellbeing that can fit into a super busy schedule.

1) Self-regulation — make a list of all the activities that make you feel happy and calm (reading, yoga, cooking, drawing, etc.). Whenever you feel stressed, upset or helpless, try doing one of these activities to feel better.

2) Balance rest and exercise — both are important, but some days you can’t get both in. Take time to check in with yourself to see which one is needed more and don’t feel guilty.

3) Be part of a community — it’s hard when you feel alone in all of it. Friends in a similar circumstance offer you compassion, humour and support.

There are people in this world who do care about your wellbeing too! All you need to do is to reach out. Don’t know where to go? Why not try one of YAMA’s Caregiver Wellbeing classes.

YAMA believes in providing opportunities for our students and their families to gain skills and qualifications to help others.

We have an upcoming 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training starting in September with our partner, Hersha Yoga. Yes, Hersha is our founder, but she actually has over 20 years experience as a Yoga Therapist and Teacher Trainer.

The best part… YAMA is offering scholarships to those in financial need. We believe that finances should not stand in the way of those who want to pursue a career doing something they love and helping others.

Many of our staff and teachers left for the summer with just a couple of dedicated teachers — Pacsy and Melody — covering all our classes. As we slowly come back to our rhythm, they can now take some time to recharge and return to work with balanced energy! We are super grateful for their dedication. THANK YOU PACSY & MELODY!

Until our next newsletter, we wish you health and wellness always!

In service and with love,
The YAMA Team
